GRBAlpha

This page describes GRBAlpha and provides more information including publications, etc.

GRBAlpha is a 1U sized CubeSat with gamma-ray detector on board capable of detecting GRBs. It carries a 75x75x5 mm CsI(Tl) scintillator, read out by a dual-channel multi-pixel photon counter (MPPC) setup. It was launched in March 2021 and its goal is to prove the detector concept, verify the detector's lifetime and measure the levels of the background at low Earth orbit. GRBAlpha already detected several GRBs. This mission is a technological pathfinder to the future constellation of nanosatellites monitoring GRBs called CAMELOT.
